About
I started slipping into off-limits places in 2006. At the time I didn’t know what “urban exploration” was and I was too scared to try anything “good”. By 2009, I had found the forums and the people who made it feel like a real thing. Most of my friends came from UER.ca after I joined in 2010. I was active in the Northeast scene through 2018, mostly drawn to hospitals, state schools, sanatoria, and anything with a tunnel under it.
After a few years in West Virginia, trading brick asylums for coal tipples and hollers, I moved back to Massachusetts. These days I creak when I walk and I plan explores around whether or not stairs are involved. But somehow I’m still at it, maybe even more in 2025 than I’ve been in years.
The community isn’t the same. Everyone’s chasing follows or posting footage with royalty-free horror music over it. I’m just here trying to remember what it felt like when the only goal was getting inside without getting caught. If I’m being honest, I mostly explore now to trick myself into thinking it’s still 2012.
So, what is urbex?
Idk, it’s just my Instagram handle.
